When
I was 19, I had dropped out of college, and was questioning the meaning
of life and my place in the universe. Like many teens, I was lost. My
lack of direction led to an emotionally difficult period. Going to
therapists didn't really help. Then, like today, their first instinct
was often to medicate. I took a long test with about 700 multiple choice
questions, and was told I had depression. Like it was cancer or
something. I had no control was the implicit message. During this
period, a family member gave me some cassette tapes (this is what us old
people used to listen to before mp3's) they had gotten of Tony Robbins.
I never heard of Tony Robbins before. His program was incredible. First
of all, he demonstrated how we are each in control of our lives and
emotions. How we can use physiology, body movement, and our minds to
control how we think and feel. He gave many examples and proof, too
lengthy to list here, that proved what he was so charismatically
conveying. His message was simple and powerful: YOU are in charge of
you. This was so refreshing and empowering, especially after getting the
opposite message for so long from the "experts". Within a short time, I
had used the tools he taught to get over my "depression", learn to
control my emotions and get my life back on track. I became happier, got
a girlfriend, went back to school and even earned my master's. [Note:
Some people do need medication for their psychological problems. I am
not a doctor. But I do feel we overmedicate as a society, and many
problems are behavioral, not chemical.] Like everyone, in the decades
since, life has had its ups and downs, but I have gone back to using the
tools I learned from Tony again and again, during life's toughest
moments. I will always be grateful to Tony Robbins for the tools I
learned from him and the sense of self empowerment he instilled in me.
My best friend, and Hidden Cash co-founder Yan and I are both big fans
of Tony Robbins. We have been to several of his live events (walked on
hot coals in San Jose in 2012) and always enjoy listening to and reading
his work. In fact, Yan re-introduced me to some of Tony's new work.
Fast forward to present day: Since we started Hidden Cash, one unintended consequence was hearing from so many people about their financial troubles. As we have made clear time and again, we are not in a position to help directly. HC was intended as a fun game and way to give back. Contrary to popular belief, neither of us is extremely wealthy. But we share Tony's belief in constantly learning, growing, and improving yourself.
It is all too clear that many people need a financial education. We have had too many people talk about playing the lottery as their financial plan. There are too many people in this wealthy country, and beyond, who are struggling to make ends meet. Too many people who end up with next to nothing after a lifetime of hard work.
Tony Robbins is coming out with a new book to address these important issues. He interviews some of the best financial minds in the world. The top investment advisors and self-made billionaires. He takes the best lessons from them and distills them in a way anyone can understand. He is donating all profits from the sale of this book to charity. In fact, he is feeding 50 million people this year! We wanted to share with you his link, where right now before it is released, his book is available for only the cost of shipping and handling. We are not affiliated with Tony in any way, and obviously we are not making any money from the book sales. This is just our way to give back with what we believe based on interviews and everything we know about Tony's work will be useful information for everyone. The book retails for $28, and we wanted to share with our followers this link to get it for a fraction of that price. We have ordered ours, and encourage you to do the same. Failing to plan in life is the same as planning to fail. So make a plan for your life. Someday, you will thank yourself. We also encourage you to check out Tony's other work. You can find a lot of free and inexpensive resources online. There was no commercial internet back in 1990 when I was first introduced to his work. I was just lucky. Today, the world is literally at your fingertips.

I really think unless you love love looooooove your job, to the point where you would do it for minimum wage (and maybe even then), the old plan of working til you're 65 or 70 and then retiring, hoping you don't drop dead right before or get cancer or a heart attack right after (as happens so many times), where best case you have a few years left to enjoy life as an old man/woman, is basically a shitty, sucker's plan. Yet so many people are doing it. Instead, everyone with at least average intelligence and abilities, should plan to become financially independent by their 30's or 40's so you can have financial freedom and less stress, to enjoy life while you're still young-ish. This can be done in a variety of ways, from starting an income producing business that can be largely outsourced and automated (see Tim Ferriss; I know a number of people doing this) to moving to a beautiful and safe country where you can live like a king/queen for less than $1000 a month, to my personal favorite - real estate. Really, your time is the most precious thing you have. If you plan to keep trading it for money until you are old and sick, you're making a really bad trade
